Michael Cronin

Michael Cronin is Director – Head of Construction at Aon Ireland. An experienced construction insurance specialist, with a career in the insurance industry covering nearly four decades, he has developed deep expertise in the construction and engineering sectors, supporting contractors, developers, and related professionals on complex project and operational risks. Michael has worked extensively on contract driven placements, aligning insurance programmes with the requirements of main contracts, funders, and other project stakeholders. Known for his practical, site aware approach, he focuses on understanding each client’s project pipeline, risk profile, and contractual obligations, then structuring insurance solutions that balance robust protection with commercial competitiveness. Over the years, he has advised on a broad spectrum of schemes, from regional projects to major infrastructure and commercial developments including PPP’s, helping clients navigate claims, policy wordings, and changing market conditions. Michael is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute in London (ACII), holds a Management Diploma in Insurance from the Insurance Institute of Ireland (MDI), and has completed a Professional Diploma in Construction Law from City Colleges in Dublin.
