Newcomer to a political role as the Mayor of Limerick, Ireland’s first ever directly elected mayor. Serving for a five year term and all things budgetary, housing, transport and spatial planning strategy. Before the election, I had been an experienced private sector CEO, board member, international banker and former senior public policy maker, banking and aviation lawyer and tax specialist who is recognised, as Head of Ireland's Department of Finance, to have played a pivotal role in Ireland's post crisis economic recovery, the restructuring of the Irish Banking Sector, and to have been a key influencer in Europe's move towards greater non-bank and capital markets funding sources. Strong management and deal experience and acknowledged negotiating, analytical and strategic and original thinking skills. Advisor to a number of SMEs, investors and organistions in public and not-for-profit sectors. Proven track record of revenue generation, policy formulation, change management and problem resolution. Experienced in leading change or growth strategies, mainly at board or CEO advisory level. Mainly interested in delivering better for Limerick and an ambitious mayoral programme. I have a strong interest in more sustainable living and climate mitigation strategies for city regions. Extensive cadre of influential domestic and international contacts. Recently, Interim Chair of the Land Development Agency and former board director of the European Investment Bank.
