Ian Laverty

Ian has recently been appointed as Northern Ireland Deputy Director within the Local and International Growth Directorate of the newly formed Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade (DBIST). Ian has held a number of non-executive director roles across Northern Ireland’s manufacturing and engineering sector and construction sector. Ian has a background in economic development and business growth in Northern Ireland, having run growth programmes for and on behalf of Councils, the Department for the Economy and Invest Northern Ireland. Before taking up the role within the UK Govt, Ian has worked in Invest Northern Ireland to attract inward investment from businesses across Europe, and more recently in the private sector helping businesses to access export markets and prime supply chains. Ian’s role at DBIST will see him supporting the growth of Northern Ireland businesses through support interventions, including the Enterprise Investment Zones and the NI Defence Growth Deal.
