In ESB Networks, Emma is driving efforts and focus on delivering projects that will enhance the capacity at key substations in areas of the network impacted by limited capacity. This accelerated programme of projects will deliver interim solutions across the country, before multi-year, highly complex infrastructure projects will be completed. To support and enable this, her activities also include widespread engagement and collaboration with a range of stakeholders such as Irish Government, national authorities, and in Europe with utility peers and partners. With a career spanning almost 20 years, Emma has held pivotal roles in the energy sector that have focused on fostering innovation and driving impactful projects and change, including leading the commercialisation of a new electromobility business for ESB Group in Great Britain. Emma holds a Ph.D. from University of Galway, is a chartered engineer, and in her career has spent significant time working internationally, including in the UK, Africa, Middle East & Asia. She previously led post-doctoral research in alternative fuels for the United States Dept. of Energy, California. She has completed executive leadership programmes at UCD Smurfit, London Business School, and most recently at Saïd Business School, at the University of Oxford in the UK.
