Eamon Judge retired in 2023 from his role as Executive Director in Eli Lilly's Global Manufacturing Function after a 43 year long career in the biopharma industry. Eamon’s early career took him through a wide range of leadership roles at Lilly's manufacturing site just outside Kinsale, Cork. He spent a period at Lilly's Corporate headquarters in Indianapolis in the mid 1990s and subsequently returned to a Senior Director position in the Lilly Ireland Senior Management Team. Eamon represented Lilly on the Governing Counsel of Biopharmachemical Ireland and contributed to the development of one of the first BPCI Strategic Plans for the biopharma sector. He subsequently became President for two terms of the Ireland Affiliate of the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering as well as Chairing the European Affiliate Counsel of ISPE. He created and chaired the Covid Alliance, a pan industry/academia grouping of over 50 organisations who were acting in support of the HSE during the pandemic. In his corporate role in the years before retirement, Eamon has had responsibility for front end strategic planning for over $3b of investments by Lilly in Europe and Asia. His responsibilities included the site selection of a new European Biologics API plant for Lilly that has led to the construction of the new $1.9b site at Raheen in Limerick which is currently in the final stages of qualification. Eamon’s peers recognised his career contributions of the sector by declaring him the 2022 Biopharma Leader of the Year, in 2013 the Industry Association awarded him an Outstanding Contribution Award and Engineers Ireland have awarded him an Icon of process Engineering Award. His longstanding interest in sustainability led to his oversight and delivery in 2021 of Ireland’s largest private solar farm at Lilly’s site outside Kinsale. Eamon has been an external examiner for Munster Technological University. Eamon has had a long-standing interest in youth science and for over 20 years has been coaching students who have been participating in the Annual BT Young Scientist Exhibition. He continues to remain engaged with the sector by serving as a Non-Executive Director for commercial and non profit organisations and by providing biopharma and sustainability consulting services.
