Dr Janice O’Sullivan

Dr Janice O’Sullivan holds a PhD in Medicine from the University of Galway, completed in collaboration with a MedTech company, where she focused on stem cell therapies for degenerative conditions. She has conducted research in leading stem cell and tissue engineering laboratories, including those at Harvard Medical School, the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), and the University of Galway School of Medicine. She has contributed to several large-scale European Commission–funded projects advancing device- and biomaterial-based delivery systems for stem cells and therapeutics to treat chronic diseases. Janice is currently a Lecturer and Principal Investigator in Biomedical Technologies at Atlantic Technological University (ATU). Her research focuses on developing in vitro and benchtop models that recapitulate human physiology, with particular interest in extending the lifespan of implantable medical devices for diabetes management and advancing non-animal methods in medical device testing and regulatory assessment.
