Dr Breffní Lennon

I am a senior researcher at the Cleaner Production Promotion Unit, a multidisciplinary research group of the Sustainability Institute and the School of Engineering and Architecture at University College Cork. A human geographer, I am interested in the social, environmental, and economic challenges of energy. My research focuses on the theme of society, sustainability, and energy, and is situated at the intersection of the social sciences with science and engineering. I carry out engaged research on the geographies of energy transitions, the cultural ecologies of Climate Change, and actioning sustainable, inclusive citizen engagement. I have a specialist interest in how these issues inform geopolitical and socio-environmental trends, particularly in terms of spatial, distributive, and procedural justice. I am also interested in developing a deeper understanding of people's lived experience of energy and the role concepts like energy citizenship can play in the energy transition, in addition to wider societal transformation and (inter)national climate action trends.
