Cillian McPolin

Cillian McPolin is a Senior Photonics Technologist at Digital Catapult, where he leads on the adoption and development of integrated and industrial photonics, together with quantum sensing. Cillian received his MSci and PhD degrees in physics from Queen’s University Belfast and King’s College London, respectively, before undertaking postdoctoral research at King’s College London and Imperial College London, and subsequently joining Digital Catapult. A contributor to the Smart Nano NI project, his work with industry includes addressing the challenges and opportunities for implementing photonic techniques across a range of sectors, including manufacturing. He also supports the development of new photonic technologies, conducts research within integrated photonics, and addresses the industrial skills needed for the development and adoption of emerging photonic and quantum technologies.
