Brendan Cunniffee

Brendan Cunniffe is a highly experienced medical device engineer with more than 25 years’ experience across both multinational and start-up environments. As VP of Technical Development at Salt Medical Ltd, he leads R&D and Operations for the company’s newly established CDMO business. Brendan has held senior leadership roles throughout his career, including Director of R&D at APICA Cardiovascular Ltd. (acquired in 2014), VP of Operations at Sirakoss Ltd. (acquired in 2020), and VP of Operations at Vivasure Ltd. (acquired in 2025). He holds a PhD in Finite Element Analysis, which he has applied extensively in the design and verification of multiple Class III implantable devices across cardiovascular, cardiac surgery, neurovascular, peripheral vascular, and orthopaedic therapies. He is widely recognised as an expert in the fatigue analysis of implantable Nitinol structures. Brendan completed his MBA at the Smurfit Business School, UCD, in 2014, and continues to actively advise and support early-stage innovators and entrepreneurs on product development, scale-up, and market access strategies. Brendan brings deep technical expertise, proven leadership, and a strong track record of successful device development to support innovative medical technologies from concept through to commercialisation.
